DEFINE PROBLEM
IN THIS PROJECT WE WERE ASSIGNED THE TASK TO MODEL, DIMENSION, AND ASSEMBLE A MODEL TRAIN IN THE ENGINEERING PROGRAM, INVENTOR
GENERATE CONCEPTS
I BEGAN CREATING MY TRAIN BY FOLLOWING ALONG THROUGH YOU-TUBE VIDEOS AND SKETCHING MY PARTS APPROPRIATELY. THE YOU-TUBE VIDEOS EXPLAINED A STEP FOR STEP PROCEDURE ON HOW TO MODEL/DIMENSION THE PARTS OF THE TRAIN. THIS MADE IT FAIRLY EASY FOR ME TO COMPLETE THE PROJECT EFFICIENTLY.
DEVELOP A SOLUTION
CONSTRUCT AND TEST PROTOTYPE
EVALUATE SOLUTION
I got relatively positive feed back regarding the design and appearance of my train. I asked questions of the color and design, outside opinion approved of the color and appearance of the train. Everyone liked it and was pleased. The only suggested advisory was to change the color of the wheels. Although considering this advisory, I didn't change the appearance of my wheels.
PRESENT THE SOLUTION
A few challenges I faced during the completion of this project consist of minor details such as, difficulty comprehending the directions, and a high demand of parts or product. During some steps in the directions, I had a hard time grasping what was being asked of me, or how to execute the task. Simply because, I'd forgotten how to do them, or just wasn’t sure what the requirements were. Another barrier was, that there were many parts to complete. This project is very time demanding and tedious. It takes concentration and time, that in a few cases, I struggled delivering. But other than what was previously described had had very little to no difficulty completing this project.
In this project for one of the IDW files, a section view was required. The purpose of a section view is to 'cut the object in half' to show interior details and to provide additional clarity. I also had to utilize an auxiliary view. The purpose of an auxiliary view is to show the true size and shape of an inclined surface. In one of the IDW'S I also used a broken view, a broken view is used to make it possible to display the drawing view in a larger scale on a smaller size drawing sheet.
Symbols are used instead of words to identify hole types, because it is more efficient and looks a lot cleaner on sketches and files. Tolerances are necessary to prevent major error in the assembly of parts. Parts with proper tolerances will fit as desired.
